Caribbean Jazz Meets New England Folk

The outdoor concert, scheduled for Saturday, August 16 at Putney Inn Field, features Charlie & The Tropicales, a 1960s-inspired Caribbean jazz ensemble led by acclaimed New Orleans trombonist Charlie Halloran. The performance, which promises to foster the kind of cultural dialogue and community engagement vital to contemporary society, begins at 6 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m.

His band's latest albums, "Shake the Rum" and "The Alcoa Sessions," have garnered international acclaim, showcasing the universal appeal of Caribbean-influenced jazz.

Local Talent Meets Global Sound

Sharing the evening's billing is the Heather Pierson Trio, featuring the New Hampshire-based pianist and singer-songwriter alongside Shawn Nadeau (bass) and Craig Bryan (drums). Their performance promises an uplifting fusion of jazz, folk, blues, and New Orleans roots music, exemplifying the rich tapestry of contemporary American musical traditions.
